Assistant Professor in Russian Literature

The Department of Slavic Languages at Columbia University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Russian literature and culture. We seek excellence and creativity in teaching and scholarship. Specialization is open, but we welcome the ability to teach courses on the twentieth or twenty-first century and to engage with a related discipline (arts, film and media, cultural and gender studies, comparative literature, social sciences). Beyond teaching in the field of specialization, the successful candidate will teach two courses a year in Columbia's Core Curriculum, typically in Literature Humanities.

Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate advanced competence in Russian. Applicant must have Ph.D. in hand by July 1, 2016.

Applications must be submitted through Columbia University's Recruitment of Academic Personnel System RAPS Applications must include (a) curriculum vitae, (b) cover letter describing research and experience, (c) three letters of recommendation, which will be solicited from the RAPS site, (d) writing sample (40 pp maximum), and (e) teaching portfolio (other document 1).

Interviews will take place at the ASEEES convention in Philadelphia on November 19, 20, and 21. Review of applications will begin on October 5.
