Assistant Professor of Practice in Czech

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at UNL is seeking an Assistant Professor of Practice in Czech to begin August 2017.

This is a non-tenure leading position, but comes with other faculty rights and benefits. Professors of Practice hold longer-term renewable contract appointments, with primary responsibility in instructional activities.

Required qualifications are a PhD in Czech or related field, fluent/near-native proficiency in Czech and English, evidence of excellence in teaching; the ability to design and deliver language and culture curricula and the ability to teach courses currently offered (Beginning Czech I and II: Second Year Czech I and II; lower- and upper-division literature and culture courses).

Preference will be given to applicants who have the ability to teach face-to-face, online, and blended courses; who have experience with faculty-led study abroad programs; and the ability to offer courses in English in programs such as Women’s and Gender Studies, Ethnic Studies, Global Studies, as well as in MLL.

Additionally, preference will be given to applicants who will have their degree in hand by August 2017. The term of this non-tenure-track appointment is two (2) years. Reappointment is not presumed, and the appointment is subject to annual review and availability of funds.
