Hunter College, City University of New York - New York, NY

The Division of Russian and Slavic Studies of the Department of Classical and Oriental Studies of Hunter College, City University of New York, invites applications for a tenure track/tenured position at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor to teach Russian language and literature beginning in Fall 2016. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a wide range of undergraduate courses in 19th , 20th, and 21st -century Russian literature and culture, both in Russian and English, as well as upper-level Russian-language courses as needed. The position also involves thesis advising for Russian majors and minors and other Hunter College students, as well as an active role in extracurricular student activities. The successful candidate will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

For Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor:
Ph.D. by time of appointment. Area of secondary specialization is open, but preference may be given to candidates with expertise in translation studies and comparative literature. Native or near-native fluency in Russian and English is required. Demonstrated strength in research and publication and excellence in teaching are required. The department values collegiality and a commitment to service to the program, department, college, and university.
