Visiting assistant professor in Russian

Colby College - Waterville, ME

The History Department at Colby College invites applications for a one-year replacement position for a visiting assistant professor in Russian and Soviet history, to begin September 1, 2016.

We seek a scholar with a PhD or ABD in history and demonstrated teaching and research interests in Russian and/or Soviet history. The candidate will teach five courses including two survey courses (one in Imperial Russian history, one in Soviet history), a course on the Russian Revolution as part of the college “Arts and Humanities” Theme for 2016-17, and two other courses that might explore such themes as ethnicity, race, and nation; science and technology; sexuality and gender; or monarchy, autocracy, and totalitarianism. Ability to teach a topical intensive writing course for first-year students is an advantage.
