The Russian Studies Department at Davidson College, a highly-selective liberal arts college located 20 miles north of Charlotte, NC, invites applications for a renewable, non-tenure track lectureship in Russian language, beginning July 1, 2020. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the expectation, upon satisfactory review, of multi-year contracts moving forward. We seek a colleague dedicated to reshaping our language curriculum, mentoring students, and collaborating across campus to expand interest in Russian among a diverse group of students.

Teaching load is 6 courses annually (3/3): 5 in Russian language (elementary, intermediate, and advanced), and 1 course in Writing, Humanities, or Russian culture. Additional duties include selecting materials and designing the syllabus for Russian language courses, supervising our Fulbright FLTA, co-hosting the weekly Russian table, organizing Russian-related extra-curricular activities, and meeting with prospective students about our language curriculum.

Qualifications:
• Native or near-native proficiency in Russian;
• MA, ABD, or PhD in Russian, Slavic, Second-Language Acquisition, or a related field, by July 1, 2020.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with best practices for language pedagogy, including assessment tools, and a record of excellence in the Russian language classroom at all levels.
