Assistant Teaching Professor of Russian

The Department of German and Russian at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor of Russian. This is a renewable-term hire intended to be a career position with the opportunity for advancement in rank going forward. The primary focus is on teaching and program building.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the Ph.D. in hand, have demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, and have a background in second language acquisition and pedagogy.

The teaching load will be three courses per semester, plus service as Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Russian section of the department. We are seeking an innovative teacher with demonstrated experience and ideas in program building, student recruitment, study abroad, and extracurricular activities.

The department welcomes applications from individuals who may have had nontraditional career paths, or who may have taken time off for family reasons (e.g. children, caring for disabled or elderly family), or who have achieved excellence in careers outside of academia. We are especially interested in applicants who view teaching and program building as areas to promote diversity, equal opportunity, and perspectives that are underrepresented in higher education.
