Smolny Program Coordinator

Bard College - Annandale-on-Hudson, New York

The Smolny Program Coordinator is responsible for recruitment and program support for Bard College’s unique study abroad program at Smolny College, St. Petersburg State University (Russia). In particular, s/he will work to develop the profile, sustain the growth and development, and assure the satisfaction of student participants in the Bard-Smolny study abroad program and intensive Russian summer language program in St. Petersburg, Russia. He/she will also assist in supporting the IILE’s work with visiting students from Russia and Central Asia and will represent the department at conferences and study abroad fairs. Based in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, the Smolny Program Coordinator works closely with the Director of the Institute for International Liberal Education and works closely with the Associate Director for Bard Abroad.

Specific tasks include setting and meeting recruitment goals; managing recruitment travel; cultivating institutional relationships; maintaining communication with program managers and other stakeholders at Bard and abroad; organizing orientation sessions; and working with colleagues abroad and in the U.S. to assure the quality of the academic and cultural experience, and the personal growth, health, and safety of participating students from Bard and other colleges and universities. The position involves considerable in the U.S. with occasional travel to Russia or Kyrgyzstan.

Requirements
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a field related to Russian studies, and have a strong working knowledge of the Russian language. Alumni of the Bard-Smolny study abroad program are strongly encouraged to apply.

Desired qualifications include international program management and/or recruitment with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with faculty and staff at U.S. colleges and universities. Candidates must demonstrate that they are detail-oriented, are good at managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and have excellent writing and public speaking skills. Overseas experience in Russia or Central Asia is desirable, as is a Master’s degree. Knowledge of Terra Dotta’s Studio Abroad platform is a plus. The position requires a valid driver’s license and candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
