Visiting Assistant Professor of Russian Literature

The Department of Asian and Slavic Languages and Literatures in the Division of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures is searching for a part-time (62.5%) Visiting Assistant Professor in Russian Literature beginning in August 2019. The initial appointment will be for one year, with a possible reappointment, pending College approval and demonstrated excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will teach courses in 19th and 20th century Russian literature, including self-designed courses with a comparative literature focus. The normal teaching load, contingent upon enrollments, is five courses per year (at least a minimum of 15 s.h.). The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty in programmatic activities.

Required qualifications:
• PhD in Russian Language and Literature, or a related field, or PhD in Second Language Acquisition with focus on Russian Language and Linguistics, which must be in hand by the time of appointment.
• Native or near-native fluency in Russian and English
• Extensive experience in teaching Russian at the college/university level in North America.

Desired qualifications:
• Experience developing courses that focus on comparative literature
• Experience in organizing cultural activities
• Ability to teach courses in Russian cinema
