Global Language Project will be running a 2016 Teacher Training STARTALK program from July 5th to July 22nd. Participants in the program will learn how to design a standards based, thematically organized curriculum. Teachers will focus on developing learning targets, using comprehensible input, and checking for understanding. The program includes a peer-teaching and student teaching component during which participants will have the opportunity to take the theory learned during week one and put it to practice, first with peers and then in a classroom setting.
The program will be led by Thomas Sauer, Rosanne Zeppieri, and Victoria Gilbert. The STARTALK program is free of charge. Learning materials, textbooks, breakfast, and lunch are all included. Participants will earn credit hours through the New York State Department of Education (NYSED), and partial scholarships will be offered for a three-credit graduate level course at Queens College in the fall semester on articulated curriculum design.
