Annual Conference

Annual AATSEEL Conferences are energetic gatherings that focus on the aesthetic, creative, and communicative aspects of Slavic cultures long considered to be among the world's richest and most provocative.

In 2022, the AATSEEL conference is scheduled to take place in-person in Philadelphia, PA, February 17-20, 2022. The conference hotel is the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown, and the conference room rate is $169/night. Click here to book online. To book by phone, call 1-888-236-2427 and request the AATSEEL group rate.

While we realize that remote and blended modalities for the conference are desirable for some attendees, we intend for the Philadelphia conference to be fully in-person. Subsequently, AATSEEL will not provide technical equipment or support for multimodal delivery of presentations or content in Philadelphia. We advise anyone submitting a proposal for the conference that they should plan to attend in person, February 17-20, 2022.

Please write to aatseelconference@usc.edu, with any questions or special requests. Special requests can vary, but may include search committees seeking interview space at the conference, nursing mothers requesting a private lactation space, and other non-programmatic accommodations. We are willing to go the extra mile to provide what we can so that the conference is accessible to everyone who wishes to attend. There are no guarantees, but we're willing to try.

AATSEEL has a Roommate Seeking Roommate Form and the Room Share Classifiedsfor attendees looking to share a room in order to reduce travel costs. Please note that the rate for double rooms is the same as the single rate of $169/night. The rate for triple occupancy is $189/night, for quadruple occupancy, $209/night.

Conference registration is now open and will remain available until mid-January, after which attendees will need to register on-site at higher rates.

The deadline for exhibitor registrations and program ad orders has now passed.

Conference Updates Concerning the Pandemic

Participants are expected to be fully vaccinated at the time of the meeting. On arrival at the conference, you should be prepared to show your vaccine record and a form of identification that matches the name on your vaccine record. These records will be verified by conference staff at check-in on-site in Philadelphia.

The following are acceptable as proof of vaccination:

-A vaccination card with your name, type of vaccination, and dates of vaccines.

-A photocopy or photograph of your vaccination card stored on a digital device.

-Your vaccination record from the CDC website.

If you have any questions or concerns about this requirement, please contact Elizabeth Durst, AATSEEL Executive Director, at aatseel@usc.edu

Conference participants are expected to pre-register for the conference by January 9th, or their names will not be included in the program.
