Instructor of Russian Studies

Mercyhurst University - Erie, PA

Mercyhurst University department of World Languages and Cultures is seeking a full-time Instructor of Russian Studies. Teaching responsibilities include all levels of instruction in Russian language as well as courses in culture and literature taught in English. Other responsibilities would include participation in department meetings, and assistance in advising the majors and minors in the Russian Studies program. This is a full-time position with duties beginning in late August 2017.

The candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to the promotion of Russian Studies and evidence of excellence in the teaching of Russian language, literature, and culture. Native or near-native ability in both Russian and English is essential. Candidates who already have the Ph.D. are strongly preferred but ABD will be considered.

Candidates should submit letter of application, C.V., statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation, at least one of which should clearly address teaching ability.
