Lecturer in Slavic Languages

The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a Lecturer, target start date August 16, 2015. PhD at time of appointment required. 9-month, full-time, non tenure-track position, renewable yearly based on enrollments and strong performance reviews. Salary competitive/commensurate with experience.

The lecturer will teach advanced Russian language courses; courses for undergraduates and graduates in language pedagogy and, preferably, Slavic linguistics (e.g., structure of Russian); and beginning to advanced-intermediate language courses in one other Slavic Language (e.g., Polish or Ukrainian). 3/2 course load. Position entails supervising the dept. language program.

PhD, native or near native command of Russian and English, and proficiency in a second Slavic language required. Preference given to degrees in Slavic linguistics, general linguistics, second language acquisition, or related fields. Experience with instructional technology in language teaching, evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching, including Russian language instruction, required; experience in program direction/supervision preferred.
