AATSEEL

The Annual Conference of AATSEEL, the American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages, is a forum for scholarly exchange of ideas in all areas of Slavic and East/Central European languages, literatures, linguistics, cultures, second language studies and pedagogy.

In 2009, the Annual AATSEEL Conference will take place from December 27-30, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing on the waterfront in historic Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In addition to panels, roundtable and instruction fora, the 2009 AATSEEL Conference will feature several new special events, including:

  • Master Classes led by Caryl Emerson (on Bakhtin) and William Mills Todd (on the nineteenth-century novel). Registration for each master class is limited to 15 participants, who must be members of AATSEEL and pre-registered for the conference
  • Workshops led by Sibelan Forrester (on translation) and Benjamin Rifkin (on teaching). Registration for workshops is limited and available only to members of AATSEEL who pre-register for the conference.
  • Informal conversations with leading scholars.

More information on these events, and on the full 2009 Conference Program, will be available soon.
